A few weeks ago I did a survey on Twitter (my french account) to ask, what was the hardest thing for writers to do in writing. As I collected the answers, I realized that what stood out the most was the difficulty of getting into writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This got me thinking and I decided to share the conclusion of my reflections with you on video (see my YouTube channel<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make it easier to start writing I have identified three important points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2800\u2b50\ufe0f\u2b50\ufe0f\u2b50\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/<\/strong><\/span> First of all, you have to change your mindset<\/span><\/strong> regarding your writing. Because yes, if you don\u2019t take your writing seriously, it\u2019s much harder to motivate yourself to write. Your writing shouldn\u2019t be a hobby, just to pass the time. No, your writing should be a life mission. You carry within you a message, a novel that only you can deliver to the world with your unique point of view. You owe it to yourself to write, for yourself, for your novel, and for the rest of the world. No pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2800<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/<\/strong> <\/span>It is also necessary to develop writing habits<\/span><\/strong>. The habits, once taken, become your best ally to acquire automatisms when you start writing, and ease that moment when you start writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/ <\/strong><\/span>Having a writing schedule<\/strong><\/span>, for me, is essential to stay consistent in writing a novel. Consistency also means emulation and motivation. If you only write once every fortnight when you feel like it, you lose energy to focus on the story, you lose the connection with your novel, you lose sight of why your novel is important\u2026 in short, it just floats and you don\u2019t move forward. And the less you move forward, the harder it is to get started! Having a schedule with your writing sessions well defined in advance will allow you to stay focused on your novel and be proud and happy to move forward, with the desire to progress even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
