Winter Writing

Hello dear subscribers and friends

I hope you’re all right. Time flies, have you had time to do everything you planned to do in February?

As for me, I have finished writing the new chapters of the translation of Poussières de toi/Dust Of You, and I have also finished proofreading the English version.

This allows me to enjoy some time with my sons during this week of vacation. I’m a bit behind schedule in my writing, but I’ll be able to concentrate on my 8th novel next week.

I can’t wait to get back to my characters. It’s crazy, as soon as I leave them for more than a week, I miss them.

I don’t know how you build your characters, fellow writers, but for me, it’s more about meeting than creating. I don’t create the character, he/she comes to visit me so that I can tell his/her story.

Sometimes I make a descriptive note like for the Chronicles of a Machiavellian Princess (because there are many of them), to remind me of the smallest details of his/her life, details that he/she whispers in my ear, but most of the time, it’s a kind of communion. When I write with my characters, I become “them” and I know the depths of their souls without having to think. It’s like suddenly I melt, I’m possessed by their spirits.

So, when I’m alone with myself, sometimes I feel empty, and lost, and the absence is there…

So I can’t wait till next week to get back to J. and S., my two main characters.
